    Things to do and places to Visit in the South Hams

    Dartmoor Wildlife Zoo

    Dartmoor Zoological Park - Subject of the Benjamin Mee book, and upcoming AAA Hollywood movie 'We Bought A Zoo' directed by Cameron Crowe (Jerry MacGuire, Almost Famous), and starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johannson.

    Dartmoor Zoological Park has a fascinating story that will mean it is destined to become the most famous zoo in the world. Set in 33 acres of beautiful woodland with some stunning views of the surrounding countryside, the Park is a unique, family owned zoo with a fantastic collection of animals and the widest variety of big cats in the south west of England.

    Overbecks Salcombe - National Trust property

    Overbecks National Trust - Salcombe - One of the most fascinating and exotic gardens in the South West; explore the banana garden, meander through the towering purple echiums or just relax beneath palms and soak up the spectacular panorama across miles of beautiful coastline and estuary.

    South Devon Railway Buckfastleigh

    The South Devon Railway is one of Devon’s and the West Country’s best loved tourist attractions and is the longest established steam railway in the south west.

    It is a seven mile former Great Western Railway branch line, built in 1872, which runs along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. We run steam trains with heritage rolling stock and offer a wonderful all day attraction for families and people of all ages.

    Sharpham Vineyard

    Sharpham Vineyard - Classic English wines are produced at Sharpham vineyard as a result of a happy marriage of soil, climate and grape variety known as terroir, and nature has bestowed her gifts freely upon us here at Sharpham. Tours of our vineyard and tutored wine and cheese tastings are available during opening times, wines are also available to drink here both by the glass and by the bottle. You can also visit via river boat.
