Wonwell beach and the River Erme Estuary provide some most natural, unspoiled, coastal scenery in Southern England. The estuary and adjacent Mothecombe Beach have been used in numerous period period dramas over the years, purely because there is virtually no evidence of modern day life. The film Sense and Sensibility and the television series Hornblower have been extensively filmed here.
