Enjoy the Countryside and Coastline of South Devon

Five miles from Dartmoor, 'The last wilderness in Southern England', six miles from golden sandy beaches, the South West Coast Path and enough walking potential for any holiday. Moor View is situated in rural South Devon and is surrounded by farmland and woods which are criss-crossed by quiet country lanes, bridleways and footpaths.

    Wonwell Beach

Wonwell beach and the River Erme Estuary
provide some most natural, unspoiled, coastal scenery in Southern England. The estuary and adjacent Mothecombe Beach have been used in numerous period period dramas over the years, purely because there is virtually no evidence of modern day life. The film Sense and Sensibility and the television series Hornblower have been extensively filmed here.

    Distance: 6 miles.

Bigbry on Sea and Burgh Island

Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island
Sandy beaches, sand dunes, the art deco, Burgh Island Hotel and the famous sea tractor. A favoured holiday destination for Agatha Christie. Much to explore, places to eat including the 14th century Pilchard Inn on the Island and the Sloop Inn at Bantham. Ride to the island on the unique Sea Tractor.

    Bantham Beach

    Bantham
an ideal beach for swimming and paddling for all the family. Owing to the natural topography of the bay, Bantham also has a reputation as one of the best surf beaches in Devon
Clean bathing water, extensive and well preserved sand dunes, and the beautiful Avon Estuary to explore. A favourite venue for sea anglers and a regular destination for avid kayakers.

    Distance: 8 miles.

    Dartmoor

    Dartmoor
Referred to as Southern England's last wilderness, Dartmoor offers the walker
365 square miles of stunning moorland scenery. See the wild ponies, granite tors, rivers and streams and afterwards visit secluded pubs and Inns for refreshments.

Only 5 miles from Moor View Lodges.

Doormice at Andrews Wood Nature Reserve

    Andrew's Wood Nature Reserve
Close to California Cross and just behind Moor View. Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) bought it in 1986. This quiet spot is nationally renowned for one very rare species of flower as well as nesting Nuthatches, Blue Tits, Brown Bats, and Dormice. Excellent, meandering, quiet walks.

There is a footpath leading through the woodland with a boardwalk to take visitors through the wetter parts, and the path twists and turns around trees and over their roots, along ancient hedge banks and across small streams.
    Distance: 0.5 miles.
